That is the question. Adam is 5. I really do not remember 5 being so hard. Maybe hard is not the word. He is the sweetest of kids at times and the meanest at times. Chris and I got him a "Shining Star" monkey to use as a bribe. We told him that if he made "good choices" for a week he could have it. He is totally into monkies right now. He carries Moochie around all the time, sleeps with it, eats dinner with him, everything. So hopefully this will work.
My question is, is it wrong to bribe him to act the way he should act? Will he expect something else in a week when he gets the new monkey? I do not want him to think that he will be getting a reward for acting the way he is expected to.
I am not above bribery, that is the way we potty trained all the kids, the way we get a lot of things done. There is something different about bribing a child to get a task done and bribing them to be "good".
I don't know. I wish I had an answer. Do you?
